Default oil

I am new on here just got my bike on sunday and today when I started it and moved it I noticed that the oil lihght was on and did not turn off I though it was because it was cold and tjen the bike warmed up and the light was still on. I looked at the oil level and it was showing just a little oil not even hafe way is that the reason and I also have no clue when they last did an oil change I am going to be doing one tommorow or the day after could that be the reason why its on??

If you are checking the oil correctly and it's only half full then you don't have enough oil. Your oil light will come on, and it needs to be taken care of immediately.
Also, warming a bike will not make the oil light go off. Acceptable level and pressure is the only thing that will turn it off (unless it's electrical or a failed switch).
Make sure and read the manual to see what it says in there about oil. I would also do an oil/filter change for sure and take note of exactly how much oil is required, how much you add, and how it should look (and how it does look) in the sight glass.

Recheck the oil per the manual and if it's low then add small amounts until it reaches the required "full" amount on the glass.
I would probably still do a full oil and filter change since the bike is new to you.

Could be the sending unit or a bad ground, etc.
Also, I believe the oil light is a code light, too. Could be indicating a malfunction with something.
