no problem, glad I could help. I know I've gotten my share of help from this site. And I broke down and read the owners manual after I couldn't find the tool kit. The shop said it was under the seat when I was buying it.... took me a week to break down and look it up in the book. That's a f-up way to hide the tool kit, you almost need a screw driver to open it. I guess we're always suppose to have a quarter in our pockets.

Yes... my bike has a lock for the seat. I moved my tools to the compartments under the seat after I found them. All I was saying was that the tool kit storage compartment is difficult to open. The large silver half turn screw and the plastic tab do not work that well for me. I always feel like I'm going to break the plastic tabs trying to remove them.

Just do your first oil change with a non detergent non additive regular motor oil, run it for 500 more miles, then switch back to synthetic, just helps all the seals and rings seat properly and get into a comfortable groove.

Josh, what are you asking? If you're replying to my post... the preload adjustment is different for every rider. It depends on how you ride, your weight and so on. The lower the number (1-7) will give you a softer ride and less rebound when you hit bumps. On the other hand, the 7 or higher setting will not absorb the bumps and give you a stiffer ride.

I was asking if for the normal rider is this something I need to change from stock??? I see your point that it verys by rider. How do I know that it is set incorrectly???

The settings are based on what "feels right" for you, your weight, your bike, road conditions and how you ride. The more aggressive riders will opt for a stiffer ride so the bike doesn't bounce and through you around on tight turns. You have to be careful, must of us here are not track racers and have to deal with road hazards. If you have too stiff of a ride, you'll feel every bump, dip and seam on the highway and it can take you by surprise. Around here, DOT like to have some seams on the highways that are 2 to 3 inches. Those will cause me to leave the bike for a few seconds. I do not stunt or ride on a track, so hopefully someone else here can give you better pointers on this. I'm mostly going off my experience as a moto-x racer.

hey I know this is a year old reply. But I am looking for this "non detergent non additive regular motor oil". My dealer uses castrol DPS and R4. My last bike used R4 right from the start. then it got stolen. getting a new one soon and wanted to give it a go with these breakin techniques. Does Castrol do a "Non detergent" oil. I think my local dealer is a castrol stockist, they have a shelf full of Castrol products.
