I bought my bike off craigslist as well. Because it was a used bike, the previous owner had tried to mod some things on the bike. If I were you, I would make sure that the necessary things work: lights (high/low), turn signals, horn. Fortunately everything has been fixed thanks to the dealer haha. Good luck!

I would ask why he had to replace the plastics. and if he has the oem stuff still. so you can see if there is any damage to them, so you know a litlle history on the bike. and also check all pegs to see if they are scraped at all. to see if the bike has been laid down. that is one of the things i look for.

hope it helps

Rule #1 if he changed the plastics he laid the bike over. Now that might not be a bad thing he may have replaced everything that's wrong.

Check the bar ends for scratches. also CHECK the front wheel for any dings or dents from a front impact to a curb that's a sure sign that the front forks are bent and that's a headache.

but if he's legit and maybe just sold his plastics *ps those plastics are about 500 shipped not 1000 bucks as he claims*

then everything should be ok. just look for a scratch on the back swing arm and other places. test drive it if you can. See if he has a problem with him bringing it to a local shop and having them look the whole bike over. if your serious about buying it there's no reason he would disapprove that unless he's a liar.
