license plate light and cops

Default license plate light and cops

has anyone had much trouble with cops for not having a license plate light.

Well you should be having problems... it's required in every state to have a light for your plate AFAIK.

they havent messed with me at all over that. i've never had a light on mine and have been riding for about two years.

I live in san jose, CA and it seems like cops automatically looks to see if you have a plate light. i dont remember who sells them but theres bolts with little LED lights that you replace for your stock plate bolts they're really cheap look it up on google

check out sprengineering.com, i have (had) [:@] the 4 led bar. it looked sick at night. still couldn't read the tag verry well but it kept me legal.

THis one falls completely under officer discretion....IF they want to bust you for it they have all the right to. But alot just don't care...Like when i got pulled over the other night he couldn't even read my plate and run it until he was out of his swuad car and next to the bike(competition Werkes plate mount and no light) when i am riding you can't see it from behind only from the side unless the bike is parked(once i get on the bike the suspension compresses and the rear tire hides the plate) But he didn't say a single thing about it and it was 11:30 at night.

sounds like a nice officer, if he was in a bad mood he could have sighted you for no tag light. "if he wanted to"

I know that's what i thought he was originally pulling me for +the swerving. But like i said it's strictly to the officers discretion.
