Kawsucky 250
I had a ninja250 to start out with, learned alot with that , but i looked stupid, but if it wernt for learning on that then i would of prob. werecked a 600. I took the course also with 250 rebels also learned a heck of a lot there also...
don't drift too far from here, it'll be notime until you're back. i suggest you get a used 250 or something that's already been dropped. everyone say's you drop your first bike. i have yet to drop my 600, but ive rode dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, and my dads Big Dog Mastiff (huge bike, never dropped though, thankfully as i was told never to come back home if i dropped it).
That's why i want a second bike, one i can screw around and actually wheelie on. i wouldnt ever risk my precious 600 its too gorgeous!

Between the advice from here and 600rr.net, everyone thinks a 250 is a good choice. I learned on a 600rr but I think I would have learned more and be more relaxed on a 250 to start. I took the MSF and it was great, but I dont think you will likely practice was is taught on a 600 as much.
Can you learn on a 600? Sure can. Will you learn as much.. probably not.

well my first question would be as to wether you have any motorcycle experience at all..
if no then the 250 is a sure bet..
my 600 is my frist street bike but i have a solid 5 years of dirt experience/race experience
and i have also ridden my friends and relatives bikes on ocassion.
not saying to go out and get a 600, but just think about what your going to to before you do it.
i see too many people around here (mostly gixxers) getting killed on brand new bikes doing something stupid or going WAY over their head for their skill level..
self control.
thats my $0.02

Yeah no shame in the Ninja just take it at your own speed. You and you alone know your limits so when your thinking you dont feel comfortable with dont do it. Just take it at your own pace and you will get there fine. Just my opinion

**** all that ish....buy w/e the **** u want! KEEP and MAINTAIN a SMART HEAD on your shoulders dont exceed your limits(ie. get throttle happy) and ull b fine! theres nothing wrong with wanting to look cool and BEING SAFE while doing it..its all about pacing yourself!
wit dat sed...PEACE!

dude the new 250s are sick lookin, i would ride one. listen to everyone and get one, its a good choice. that or look at something else if you really cant handle that... i started on a 500
slowzuki gs500f. nice learner, only two cylliders, light, and overall just not as agressive. i would not go back and start with my 600rr if someone gave me a time machine. the buffer-learning time is worth it.
