Kawsucky 250
+1.
A Kawasaki 250 is not too small for you. It is a great starter bike. It may not be what YOU "WANT" but it would still be a fun bike. I'm looking to get a 2nd bike (Just got my first last month) and I want to down size to the new kawi 250 as a beater and something to learn better on. My 600 still scares the crap outa me.
Don't rush, just work your way up.
A 600 isnt too small nor to big for you. just take your time no matter what size. a 250 will be fine as a first bike, plus you can talk the wife into taking it over and u can upgrade after

ok I will, mind you I dont candy coat it, I wont stroke your ego, and I wont just tell you wtf you want to hear. That said, Only reason would be his ego is bigger than his brain.
Learn to ****ing ride, then worry about wtf you look like on the bike. If your (or whom ever we are talking about) friends think its funny n laugh, well remember because you will prolly be passing them in the mtns ON A 250!!! I much rather know wtf I am doing than have a purdy bike or look kewl.

I'm 6'1" and can barely reach flat footed on my 600rr... check the seat height on their site and width of the seat. or just go to a stealership and sit on a bunch of bikes. make sure you're comfortable.
ok, not to be a dink but seriously you're on the right track if you've never riden before or are a beginner. Unless you're super lucky and careful you're gonna dump the thing, I almost guarantee it!! Better a lil 250 than a nice, fat, heavier andfaster 600. Honestly, there's not much of a height/wieght stance position difference. SO you'll look a lil wuss-like, doesn't mean crap, we've been there. I started on the street with an enduro, suzuki DR350S. Learned a lot!!! Start small, learn to ride defensively, smart and safe, then move on to the CBR600RR or what ever. Too many deaths from beginners not being able to handle bigger bikes. Absolute power corrupts absolutely!!!
Cool, thanks guys. I'm planning on taking a 20 hr. instructional course before I even think about buying one. Course they teach in a parking lot with 125's. That's in July. First avail. Lots of new riders I'm thinking because of gas prices.
