Insurance pricing
I've noticed from one of our posting that I seem to be paying abnormally high rates. I pay about $1000 annually for full coverage on a new 05 600RR. What are your prices and what company. I need to shop around.
Don, all my insurance is through Cincinatti Ins, including 2 cars, home, a quad, and now a sport bike. I pay about $350/yr for full coverage on the bike with lay off months between November and April. Coverage is pro-rated during the lay off months since you can't ride as much anyway. During that period I still have full theft, fire, nat disaster coverage but only have what they call "occasional rider" coverage. I can still ride when there's a nice day, but the assumption is that due to the fact that Ohio winters suck your bike won't see the light of day for six months.
Don't go with Progressive - they will rip you off. I have Allstate for house and 3 cars. When I initially asked for coverage for my 03 600RR they said they don't do sport bikes anymore. I called State Farm which gave me a quote but said I needed to move one of my cars over. When I told Allstate, my agent told me that they do not recommend having two companies insure vehicles because if I were in an accident then they would go after State Farm first then try and sue Allstate as well. I told him that I wasn't going to give up the bike and hinted that I was going to move everything (house and cars) over to State Farm...Allstate feared losing all of my business and went ahead and insured me. I pay $300 every 6 months which comes to about $50 a month.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
I live in Canada but full coverage was 1800.00 a year and that was low plus I get a free tube of KY just before the cheque cleared to make it a bit easier on me I ride with plpd now 400 a year only thing that scares me is theft
I live up near Akron, OH and pay $184 a year for the bike. I have 2 cars, jetski, the motorcycle and house all on State Farm. My record it pretty clean, no accidents, haven't gotten a ticket in 5+ years. State Farm has a forgiveness rule as well where they will not raise rates for the first ticket/accident you get. I've also heard that with State Farm, they insure based on the cc's rather that sportbike vs cruiser..., basically with a 1200 cruiser, you will be paying more than the 600RR.
