Inner Fairing Foam
Well I got my fairing back from the guy who fixed it for me. He did a sweet job. I guess he used like carbon fiber and some other malarchi. Whatever, it looks good. He could use play-doh for all I car if it came out this good. Anyway, he had to pull all the "mats" (that black foam) from the inside of my right fairing. How important are these? Do they insulate heat or just sound? Why are they so damn expensive from the dealer? I still have the long skinny one, can I just get away cheap and use like....i dunno....Dynamat for the others?
just vibration damping material. has very little to do with heat or sound buffeting.
it's expensive at the dealer for the same reason everything else is high at the dealer: Because it's a dealer.

I would (and have) used the dynamat as replacement for the foam. I think it actually works better, but its a lil heavier than the foam. Noise and heat is what its for, but you could go w/out it and not have any real problems. The dynamate is worth the weight tho.
