How Long Till You Oil Change?

How Long Till You Oil Change?
I have been going about 2300-2500 miles in b/t oil changes...and I was wondering how often other 600RR riders change the oil in their bikes.
I started using Repsol when I first got it, cause that was what the kid I got it from put in it. Well, after paying $51 a gallon for that stuff, I switched up to Mobil1...$25 a gallon at WalMart. So I think I am going to change the oil every 1800-2000 miles now...I def notice a change in the shifting and smoothness of the motor after about 1000 miles, and it gets worse around 1500 miles...and when I put fresh Mobil1 in my bike, it's like brand new again!!
How often do you change your oil in your 600RR and what brand do you use?

jfunk DAAAMN!!! i change mine every 3k and i thought that was alot! i use Motul 10w-40, i buy it by the cases along w/ K&N filters. if i changed the oil by your mileage, i'd be changing it every other weekend! but hey, you'll have one hell of a healthy bike! thats why i do mine every 3k.

Before buying my bike, the previous owner changed it every 1k miles. I have chose not to do that because I ride it so much. I will be using Mobil 1 Synthetic or Repsol when i do though... and im gonna do it every 3k miles probably-1k miles is like every week or 2 (and its just my toy-not a means of transportation)

Oh man, it's been like 5k since my last change. I don't know how this applies to bikes, but in cars, fully synthetic oil has been proven to be effective for 8k and beyond. I have the oil sitting in my basement, and you guys just persuaded me to do my next change.

Every 3-6 months (6 months max).......or........2000-3000 miles.
Honda GN4 oil, and Honda oil filter.
I know it's overkill, but replacing your engine oil often is the best way to keep the engine and transmission staying as new as possible. But I think if you go by Honda's owner's manual, you replace your oil filter every 8000 miles and only change the oil every 4000 miles........but some people don't even put 4000 miles a year on their bikes, so I usually go by the time rule of every 3-6 months.

I also only use the Honda filters...get them for about $10 each from hondaparts-direct.com,with shipping. The more you buy at once, the cheaper they are...lol.
I do chnage the oil filter every time though. I have had this bike for two seasons now and about 3 changes a season is on par for me...last season was 5,000+ miles and this season I am at 4,000 already with about two months left to ride.
I do think the Mobil1 is the way to go though. Itmakes the bike run so smooth, shifts nice...it says it will go 15,000 miles b/t changes, but that seems like marketing to me. Like I said above, I def feel a difference in the bikes performance and smoothness after about 1000-1500 miles after the change, and at 2,000 it needs new stuff, which is about 2-3 months of ride time for me.
Good article Flyou.
