How do I know if my starter is bad or not?

Well let's start by testing the cheaper, and more common problems here first.
2. test voltage at the battery side of the solenoid, then again at the side to your started motor (while the start button is being pressed on the control) should be reading ~battery voltage
I highly think it's a low battery though, report back after jumping it
- Typically that sound of just the solenoid clicking is a sign of a low battery... if you have access to a multimeter check the voltage across the + and - terminals... i believe (someone else hop in right here) that the voltage to a fully charged batter is either 12.45 or 12.75 volts...
- No accesss to a multimeter? jump your bike with your car (parents.GF.roomate.stranger)
- PLEASE MAKE SURE THE CAR IS OFF...everyone is saying that if you jump it with the car on, too many amps blah blah blow a fuse.. never tried it. with the car off is good enough anyways

What would you recommend the next step be for testing? Should I start testing the starter? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.
