Default Helmet storage

I bought my 600rr two years ago and love riding as long as this midwest weather cooperates. The bike was used when I got it and it was my first one (proof positive that a proper MSF course and respect of the power can keep a squid from setting it down)

I typically use a cable lock for my helmet whenever I park it but have obviously seen people with the helmets secured underneath the passenger seat. With the seat removed I can see the hardware that looks like it should fit the strap hardware of a helmet, but my Scorpion fastener strap is uber-short.... is there a special piece Im missing?

i thought there was a little cable in the toolkit that comes with the bike. is that what you're talking about? i leave mine sitting on my tank, with the visor tucked under the double bubble windshield. but i can't keep it there when i'm riding - it'll get knocked off, so i store it on my head instead.

yep both my 1000RR and new 600RR only came with this little wire hanger in the tool kit
run the wire through the chin strap of the helmet
double the loops
place over the metal tabs under the rear cowl
lock rear cowl on
