Default Front fork base bottom

Front fork base bottomHi all,
I have a cbr600rr 2005, and the front left fork base bottom (where the axle goes through and calipers attach to, part no MEE-50-L) is cracked and requires replacing. Iv found the part online but was wondering is this a straight forward slide off and replace sliding on the new one never replaced one before.

Any help would be greatful, thanks in advance

They can be removed, just not easily. You’ll need heat, good vice, and penetrating oil. You need to dissassemble the fork and have only the fork tube. Place the base in the vise and heat it around the treads with a propane torch for a few minutes. You can’t get it too hot because it’s aluminum. There are two holes in the top of the fork tube. Use these to unscrew the tube from the base by passing a screw driver that is close to the size of the holes. When assembling, use red locktite on the threads and let it dry (24 hrs) before putting oil back in the fork.
