I'm trying to tear down a set of forks, and I am having trouble getting the bolt out of the bottom, so I can pull the tube out. I tried hitting it with a butterfly style impact wrench with no avail. I'm a little scared to break out the big impact gun. Anyone got some tricks I can try?

 

Spray some penetrating oil on it and let it sit.

Have someone hold the tube and hit it with the big air gun. Make damn sure you have the exact right tip on the gun. If you mess up the head but get it out make darn sure you replace it rather than put it back in.

Use the impact, it willnot hurt it. I used a impact right away, and it came right out.
