Default frame sliders and the bank angle sensor

just wondering what degree the bank angle sensor cuts in, cos i noticed that some of you guys have big sliders. so the question is do the sliders prevent the sensor from working? and if so wouldn't it make it more dangerous?

I have never heard of sliders keeping a bike from shutting off. If the slider does keep the bike from shutting off then the lean angle is not enough to worry about.

I don't know what the angle is but a slider would have to stick out a good foot from the fairing to keep the bike upright enough to not trip the sensor in a crash/drop

in fact, I've heard several case of riders carrying so much lean angle, the BAS cut the bike off mid corner
never have I heard of someone dragging their frame sliders in a corner (without crashing of course)

I agree with woody. If you hit your sliders on a corner then most likely you are going to fall down or you are in theprocess of going down. Think about it, if you slider is almost about to touch the ground then it’s probable that you are already scraping your leg without attempting to kneedrag. However, there are faulty sensor’s that will shut off and a very sharp turn.

If you ever drop your bike, you will see that the bike will work for a few seconds while it is on its side before shutting off. Hence, at a very steep angle the bike should not shut off by itself. Now, a crash cage is a different story..

I have... I've done it more than once without going down... and my EuroRacing sliders don't stick out all that far. In fact I know more than a few guys with the standard length (and even one with the newer short racing version) Vortex sliders on 600rr's that drag them untill the they've ground enough matial not to drag anymore.

Like it's been said before, a properly functioning BAS will NOT shut the bike off as long as the bike is still on both tires and moving. The only time(s) the BAS has ever shut my bike off is when it's laying on it's side stoped.

really? damn
are they pretty low on the RR or something?
with the sliders on my F4i and SV you'd be dragging the bar ends before the frame sliders

Yea, on the RR they're about 3-4 inches lower than on most other bikes I've ever seen. That's one of the main reasons Woodcraft has a special puck just for the RR, and Vortex came out with the "shorty slider".
