First Service??
Yeah really don't go to dealerships for this type of thing. Like Tahoe said though, keep meticulous records. I have a logbook for the bike kept in my manual. Dates, times, mileages, what work done, by whom. Then I keep all receipts in a folder along with all box tops off of parts, oil filters, etc. It "proves" the work done. You could even go so far as taking digital camera picts with dates/times, but probably overkill.
Most of the time, YOU & I will do a far better job at "servicing" our rides as any Stealership.

don't believe the hype...not all mechanics are certified...and most are just your average drop out trying to make a buck or two...and they really couldn't care less about your bike!
do all the work yourself and save money for trackdays and mods! woohoo!

a brand new bike needs what adjusted? get the F&$^% out!!!! just change the oil yourself and thats it.
voiding your warranty can only happen if you 1) crash the bike 2) any major modification like engine and tranny (slip ons don’t count)have fun, be safe

um, you guys really have no clue as to what really voids the warranty, do you? I suggest you read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. sounds like there's much to be learned...

knightsmuggler did you even attempt to read the act? one those are guidelines for the warrenty notice, two you should particularly read in the act about "Tie-In Sales" Provisions .
end result is that honda makes up their own warrenty and here it is the UK version(same for US but only for one year).

read about whats not covered. anything that makes your bike race ready is "not covered"

I understand completly with havin certified techs workin on ur bike...but if its sumthin simple lile adjustments and like oil changes..i figure i can save the money and do it myself ya kno..and learn somthing new in the process....like dont get me wrong on my 8k mile service my bike will go in the shop for that..but all the stuff they wanted me to do right away was just to take my money early....plus i wnana make sure thier honda certified
Ok, sounds like a war about first service. I say go to another Honda dealership, make some friends and ask questions at the parts dept and service department. You can even call a different Honda dealerships and collect all the data on what they all would do for first service. Then you should be fine if you take it to get done or you do it yourself. I had the Honda dealership do mine because they have the tools and I don't, that is the only reason I let them touch my bike. Other than that I do all my work myself. My first service consisted of only oil change, fluid checks and checking all bolts around handle bars and swing arm. Since then I have taken it to a friend who is a garage mechanic whenever i need my levers adjusted or chain titened!
good luck.
I think getting around and asking the proper people in person is the best way. I have met a lot of experienced and knowledgeable people, especially in this forum by asking questions like this! Take care bro!
