Default electrical help please

so i have a problem... i got back from the track the other day wanted to ride on sunday with the boys and all i had time to do was put the tail license plate and tank back on. i figured ill only need that bcuz i wont be out till dark and i just wanted tail light and brake light so people know what im doing. o and blinkers...

anyway, i put it all togther, its working leave, hit the twisties and a guy that was behind me asked me if i was braking before the turns becasue he didnt c my brake lights. of course i was braking... so when i got home i noticed the brake light was actually on, but it was just staying on. so i looked at the connector and it was pretty beat up. i cut it, sodered new wire connectors to it and now i have a big problem... the lic. plate light works...horn works.

symptoms
1 blinkers work
2 brake light works...
3 tail light out
4 gauge only comes on when the brake lever is pulled when i let go, the entire thing goes out xcept blinkers. and the neutral light is very dim when the gauges work...

my inital prognossis
a wire got crossed and the brake light is completeing the circut which has the be fixed.... but there are only 5 wires in the tail lol kinda hard to mess that up...and yet i did.

any help?
