RE: EBAY
I personally would not buy any high dollar item off of ebay unless I was able to go see it in person... Funny how they never tell you about the little things in the pics. I bought a an R6 tail for my old FZR on ebay and the guy said it had some "scratches" in it... The whole side not shown in the picture was rashed bad!! I asked why he didn't mention there was a hole rashed through the side in the auction.... he never replied! Then if you leave them a negative, they'll leave you one calling you a liar, slow pay, etc. etc!! I really hate ebay for buying stuff... been using craigs list locally, so you can alteast go see the stuff in person first. <rant off>

RE: EBAY
I bought mine off E-bay. You can get some helly deals. You gotta be good at spotting a scam, as there are MANY!!
But if you watch long and hard good deals will show. I almost had an 06' 600 RR for $5900, 05' for $5500, instead bought an 03'.
I paid cash in hand so i had no money actually out b4 i seen it, but that took alot of negotiation to be able to do.
Week b4 i sold an item on E-Bay for $8,600.00 and the dude wired me $4,600.00 2 weeks b4 he was gonna come pick it up, I coulda scammed him bad but i didnt. sad that others ruin it by scamming.

RE: EBAY
you just have to check there feedback and what they are selling. most people have ebay stores and have sold hundreds of items and have 100% feedback. i have gotten tons of stuff off ebay and only had 2 problems and both sellers refunded my money so i only have good things to say about ebay.

Hey Jim,
I don't think its your age, I think its that voice in the back of your mind - and I have that too. I use Ebay all the time, but for something like a bike I don't think I would do it. You can use their systems to get an indepedant check-up on the bike but I think I'd still want to see it for myself.
Good luck,
Chris.

RE: EBAY
If it's local, then it's really just like any other classified ad. Go see it, and if you like it make a cash offer on the spot. He can end the auction any time he wants, and if you make a reasonable offer, cash in hand, he'll probably take it rather than risk holding out for more by letting the auction run, and then worry if the auction winner will actually pay.

RE: EBAY
Thanks for the thoughts. I passesd it up. Bike was listed for CA but actually in UK. One of my buddies baught a car on ebay but flew out to look at it and finalize the deal. Later he placed an add in the local auto trader to sell it; some one high-jacked his add and put it on ebay. It turned out to be some guy in another country running a scam.
