Default dumb dyno chart question

I was looking and comparingdyno charts for rr's from '03 on up and wanted to know why '03 is listed at 107.2 /2004 lower at 106.8, then 2005 at 108.? and 2006 the 'lowest' at 105.6 (i think). is the 2006 model lower because of the cat. converter and strict emissions standards? havent seen the '07 yet but it'll be highest.

It's lower because it was most likely done at a different Dyno center. Every dyno is different. The only way to get accurate-ish comparos are all 4 bikes on the same dyno during the same afternoon. You'd be surprised how much ambient temperature, pressure and humidity play their roles in high performance engines.

Yeah, I agree with Knightslugger...every dyno's going to be different. And even then...say you take your bike to the shop one day, hot, humid, etc...and it's pushing 115, then you take it in during Winter, it could be way lower than that. I had my bike Dyno'd at a dealership down in Cincinnati, and the resultswere that of a FX bike, lol, I was like...no f**king way, so, I took it to my "home" dealership, and 2 others, and then just averaged it out. Then back to my home dealership, and it was more realistic. And to go with the "different results for different Dyno's", some Dyno's don't have all the "add-ons" that the other machines have.

Great info. Only have on comment though if dyno'd in winter the numbers should be more not less. The reason is because the air is colder so the molecules are packed tighter together thus giving you more are in same space wich equals more hp. Vrap vrap weeeeeeee!

+1 I know we have that problem here in florida whith the humidity and the heat. my bike makes almost 8 more horses in the winter when its coller and dryer

think of the humidity as water injection for superchargers! take advantage of it and increase timing ;-)

if they would not only compare the years but also the colors, you'll see there are differences too...muahahhahah...
