Difference between 05-06 gsxr600 and cbr600rr
has anyone here owned both or ridden both to where you could tell differences in power and seat comfort, position, and steering??? First time here by the ways fellas. Lookin forward to chattin and exchanging info. Own a gsxr but lookin at maybe pickin up the 06 tribal orange cbr600rr. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The '05 and '06 gix six are completely different. '04-'05 gixxer are the same and the '05 -'06 Honda 600RR is the same bike. The Honda will be better in all areas that the '04-'05 gixxer but I think the '06 gix is going to mop the floor with the honda. If I was in the market for a new 600 I would definately get the gixxer over the honda. The honda costs more and has fewer features. Suzuki makes more power, weighs less, has a better guage cluster (gear indicator!!), more comfortable seat, slipper clutch, and I am sure handling is on par with the Honda. I personally like the riding position on the Honda better than the new suzuki, but I would still buy the suzuki over the honda. Luckily I dont have to make this decision because the next bike I buy will be a Suzuki 1000.
Wow......unbiased....I like that! Well in all honesty, I like the new gix style but its the saaaaame ol' boring colors! Just wait til the blue ones really get out there, EVERYBODY and ther mommas gonna have one! So thats why I was thinking screw it.... that tribal orange cbr looks tuff! But I dont know anything about them though so im on here doin a lil research! I thought that was an awesome feature on the gix as well that its got a gear indicator! What other differences are there?
The Gixxer comes stock with a seat and seat cowl, and a steering stabilizer. The cbr has a gas gauge though. I just came off a gixer 600 ('03) to the 06 cbr, haven't really ridden the cbr yet, but you're right, the orange is badass, which is why i got it. Overall, there is more stuff available for the cbr right now (pipes and whathaveyou), where as the gixxer aftermarket support isn't that vast yet. Can't go wrong with either bike.
does the cbr NOT have a steering damper? Is the steering more loose than a gix? just like how a zx6 is all loose? I was on a kawasaki forum and tankslappers sound very common all over that website! I wouldnt like to buy a bike that will require the purchase of a damper just to be able to feel confident, when there are other bikes that already come with this ya know.
I just got back from a long day of riding... at the end of the day four of us kept swapping out bikes so we could see what's up. I got to swap with a 2005 R1, 2001 GSX 750 and a 2006 ZX636. The guy on the ZX6 said he had to install a stabilizer.... after a couple of turns, it scared the hell out of him. I still like my RR better... not as much power as the R1, but I like it more. It's a matter of taste. The R1 and GSX750 riders are mostly equal riders... and the 750 took the R1 two out of three.
Back to your question... the GSX 750 rider has a GSX 600 2004 for his girl to ride. If he ever gets the plastic back on it... I'll see if I can take it out and give a review.

Honda refinement!!!!! they may not handle, stop, or be the fastest, but they do everything very well and are the poster boys for reliabilty as long as you loop out, stoppie over yo head, or thow them it parked cars or telephone poles/trees.
I own an 05 gixxer and an 04 rr. Too bad they both are broken right now so I can't compare the difference in the ride, but I like the seating of the gixxer better. 05 gixxer 600's make 112hp stock to the rear wheel. I also hate the new look of the 06 gixxers. Ugly if you asked me. 04-05 is where its at.
I rode a buddys gsxr 750 thorugh the canyons and the handling sucks IMO i would take my cbr600rr any day. also why do you people care how your f*ing bike looks its about riding.... it all depends on what your going to do with the bike
