Deciding on 03 RR or newer model? Advice?
Hello,
This is my first posting and am seeking some advice from you veteran 600RR riders
My toss up for my next bike (owned a R6 previously) was the 600RR or an R1. The comfort is what's pulling me towards the Honda... price and insurance too. Maybe it will be a track bike one day.
I really like the style/looks of the 03' 600RR for some reason, but am not fond of the 07' model. I'm also stuck on the colour black too. I'm one to usually purchase a brand new machine and keep it for many years for several reasons. The primary one being I know how the machine has been taken care for, so purchasing used worries me,unless I can tell that the ownerhas properly takencareof the bike and is mature.
What major changes has Honda made on the 03 - 07 models for the 600RR? The new 07 is quite impressive from what I've read, but is it worth considering?
Comments?
Thanks

RE: Deciding on 03 RR or newer model? Advice?
Is $$$ a factor in your decision? I picked up my '03 last year for $4500 which isn't bad up here. It's got a lot of miles but the thing runs great. I can keep up with my buddies on somewhat newer 1ks no problem. As far as looks go, I think you're right, the sloped front fairing of the 07 is not as appealing as the more angular look of previous years. Personally, I'd say go with the best value for your money regardless of the year.

I believe in 05 Honda gave the 600rr inverted forks, lightened the frame and swingarm, and gave it a few more ponies. Other than that they are solid bikes made to run hard on the track. The R1 is a great bike as well but insurance can get really expensive.
