Cops after me...
I agree with Fox. My insurance is high enough as it is, plus I don't want to make a payment on something that I can't ride on the street anymore. With the way it is going around here, it would not suprise me if they start restricting the bikes. That would suck.

The more I read this thread, the more I'm shocked with the amount of people with the "I don't give a f**k" mentality towards riding, which is dangerous, here is why you SHOULD care about what image we as sportriders protray to the general public.
One of you tells yourself "F**k them, I'm donig 160", then you do. You don't realize that doing 160 mph means you are covering over 234 feet per second. That's almost a football field ever second. So, you're boming around at 160 and didn't notice that a minivan pulled into the fast lane because they didn't see your bike 2 seconds ago when they checked their mirrors to change lanes. You don't see them either because you took 2 seconds to move your head to look at your speedo, and by the time you looked up, over 460 feet went by without you looking, and you smash into the back of their minivan. Kill in the mother, father, and 2 kids.
A few witnesses who saw this accident say it was a speeding sportbike. The story hits the news and outrages the entire area that this innocent family of 4 was killed from some jackass motorcyclist doubling the highway speed limit because he doesn't care about the image he portrays to the public.
So the outraged family, witness and general public who have heard this tragedy on the news for weeks decides they don't want sportbikes to be legal in their county anymore. (and yes, that IS possible). So the picket, protest and demonstrate until the local courts put a ruling in to ban supersport motorcycles in that county.
Meanwhile, here I am, riding my sportbike normally like a sane human being, taking it to the track when I get the "need for speed" itch. And now I can't use my only vehicle to commute because some jackass decided he "didn't give a f**k" and "rode like HE wanted to ride" like the selfish ***** he was, and how no-one can ride.
It's a bit of an extreme example, but don't think it couldn't happen. There are many counties out there that have been DAMN close to banning sport bikes in their communities. Just ride like a sane individual. Yes you bought a sportbike, but just because you can, doesn't mean you always should. EVERYONE has to share the public streets, and the vast majority respect everyone else. Saying that you have a sportbike and it's all about me and I'm going to do what I want, etc. etc. is just ignorant and immature. Grow up, drop a pair and learn to respect the road and the people that travel on it. We have ractracks to get our fix, use them.

Lying to a cop is not a good thing. If they catch you, you will pay. Trust me.

So basically me and my friend were riding last night and i was at a light and my bike didnt go into 1st from N so i had to start in 2nd... and a cop was a few cars behind in the other lane going the other way and turns on his light and i was like oh great...... but then he turned them off... so me adn my friend split up just in case then met up at my house.. we thought it was alright to go to the local fair, and what do you know a different cop is sitting at the entrence, we go up to him and he is like " were you guys on that road a few minutes ago" and were like ohhhh greatt... and we were like uhh no why and he was like uhh just wonderin so we peaced out before he called it in that we were there.. And it gets worse i think, my friend said a cop was talkin to him about a yellow bike (thats me) always "speeding" around and avoiding the cops and whatnot.. but i dont know if its true or not that he talked to them... but of corse my bike has to be BRIGHT YELLOW and stick outlike a sore thumb... can i even get introuble for past insidents? because i know i was speeding a few times and saw cops upahead so i slowed down but never got pulled over or anything... i think theyre after me now[:@]

It won't. This world is based on money. Top people would come in and say you can't ban a motor vic. At best that city or state would pass a law that says some thing like 3 times going 30+ over and your bike is gone. Or a congress man would tell the cops to pull bikes over for even 5 mile over the speed limit. Then you have all bikers running from the cops and dieing in high speed chases because of the stiff fines then they take the stiff fines off and you have now come full circle.

It's a simple thing, just have fun and ride safe. If you need a speed fix, take it to a trackday and do it legally. A $100.00 track day is MUCH cheaper than a $1000 fine, jail time and court fees for a reckless driving ticket for doing 160 in a 70. Trust me on that at least.
