Default chipping paint

so i painted my fairings...used spray cans...took me about 2-3 months (lazziness sucks) but so i sanded down the faring to where the gloss is off and i primered it, about 2 or so coatings then i painted it, about 3 or so coatings and wet sanded it.than i glossed it with about 3 or so coatings....rode it and i got a small chip on the gas tank and i noticed it chips real easily and was wondering if there is something that i can spray on or what not to make it more durable from flying depree??? anyone know of any ideas...

thanks
josh

Rattle can doesn't offer much for hardening agents which is what you should look for..
Not an expert but you may want to look into automotive paints that dry harder. I rattle caned my bike also and sanded down below the factory paint and haven't had any issues but my bike is flat black and has shown to hold up pretty good.. I also did 2 coats of auto primer and 3 of flat with wet sand through all stages.

Ya, if you respray check out PPG; maybe google Paint Hardeners, or any clear with Hardening agents in them. You could wet sand the clear down with some 2k grit, buff then re-spray the new clear.

I sprayed mine once and i had the same problem with it. The key is to be careful not to rub anything on the paint, even a drop of gas messes with it. You might have to take the tank off and re paint it, i did twice. Also something that really helps is getting the Honda polish spray, that helps protect the paint.
