Default Chain Stretch

I need to adjust my chain:
1. Do I need a stand ?
2. Is it relatively easy to do myself ?

Thanks.

I didn't have a stand the first time I did it, I bet it would help though. Just follows the manual. Make sure you do same amount of turns on each side. Axle area on the swingarm also has marks that you can measure and make sure it is correct distance. If I can do it you can.

I would say that you definetly need a stand,i cant see how you guys say that you dont need one!!!!! How is the rear wheel going to be able to move back properly if the rear wheel is still planted on the ground? i would definetly use a stand for sure. If ya want to know what to do next just ask..........

I didn't use one but I wish I had one, would have been easier to do.

I've seen my freinds adjust their chain in a parking lot while taking a brake from street riding using only the tools that came with their bike. Read the owners manual on how to adjust the chain. It says nothing about a center stand. It does or should say when able torque the axle nut to specs ASAP. I adjusted my chain at work last week since I had some down time to mess with it. I did it while it was on it side stand with no problems.

I talked to my local dealer and they said that torguing the nut to the correct amount is a must. Some people have said it is no big deal but the shop said it can come lose if you don't. It cost me $10 for a large socket for my torque wrench, pretty cheap insurance to make sure it is right. I would hate to have it come off sometime when I am riding.
