I'm going to say 07-08 but that is all personal preference and has nothing to do with me owning an 07 . I like the looks of the 07+ better than 03-06 and I like how you can see the motor on the 07-08 instead of putting that extra piece plastic to cover up the engine on the 09+. I have not ridden a 03-06 so I can not comment on how they ride, shift, powerband etc. but the 07 is pretty smooth. Shifts good, smooth ride, smooth clutch, nice throttle response. At lower RPM's it bogs down a bit but get it past 7K and it s rocket.

If you haven't checked it out yet:
Honda CBR600RR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's a pretty detailed table of all the changes they made throughout the years. FWIW, almost everyone I've talked to says the 600rr hasn't really changed much since its inception so it's detail nitpicking, budget and personal preference on looks that determine which you want.

I think the changes are pretty significant from the original 03 RR to the "late generation" 07+

I agree with R Dub. I like the looks of the 07-08 the best. My 07 is also slightly more comfortable than my friends 06.

I had an 06 for 3 years and loved it. It was black with red decals. Then I got my 07 and I can honestly say the 07 is the better bike. It's lighter, easier to turn, the seat is slimmer so it's easier to flat foot the bike which makes it more comfortable, and the mid range is better.
