Default Anyone else smells something fishy here??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...spagenameZWDVW

If it is a 600RR...shouldn't it come with a VIN# even if it is only the frame?
The fact that it has no VIN plate and comes with "no papers or anything" leads me to suspect that it was a stolen bike that got parted out at some time, and either this guy is in on it, or the poor sap bought it and now realized that it isn't such a good idea to have.

LOL, OK, I look at this in 2 possible ways. All of which can self contradict one another. RANT TIME!!!

OK, one things is that it isn't stolen and the guy is legit and is just getting hit with so much responsibility at one time that he doesn't want to worry about his "project bike" so he calls it.

My other thought is... Also, another part of me thinks that he did steal it and that he is a really stupid theif and is trying to get some one to pick it up rather than ship it to stop a tracing paper address trail. The reason I say he is stupid is because, if he did sell it, why put it up on ebay for auction? I mean it can be traced back to him, duh...

I mean, it can be looked at many different ways, but I know that i ain't buying anything from it, so I don't have to worry about it, just throwing in my 2 cents.

My point is... I don't think you can buy a 600RR frame without it coming from the factory with a VIN#/ serial # the 600RR is after all a street legal streetbike, even though a lot of people strip them down for track duty. (hell, I think even the 125cc racebike that honda sold until last year here in the US came with a VIN plate on the frame) I could be wrong though ...

.... it would still have to have a certificate of origin.

Looks fishy, yes.

This kind of bothered me because I live in Florida and bike theft is huge here. And I was really curious so I called honda and they said all frames come with a VIN on them. You can get a replacement frame from honda if you go to a dealer and get the new frame certified, therefore this guy should have some kind of documentation of this process. I think you have to already have an old VIN/frame or whatever to transfer the info from. If a bike is stolen the VIN can be kind of "painted over," for lack of a better term. You basically cant tell that a VIN number even existed on the frame.

So I would lean on the side of "something fishy" here.
