Default 600rr front rim difference?

What is the difference between the front rim on a 03-06 600rr and a 07-08 600rr? Are they interchangeable? If not, what are the differences? Thanks guys.

dont know if they are interchangeable. I know if you have 03 it will fit on 03-06 i have 03 front rim on my 06 right now. got my rim on ebay for 80 bucks 100 shipped you have to be patient and look for good deal. Mine was powder coated red when i got it so i sanded it down and spraypainted it flat black to match my other rim.

The reason I ask is because I have a 08 600rr that I need a front rim for. I see the 03-06 600rr front rims on ebay for MUCH cheaper than the 07-08's. I was wondering if I could buy one of those and make it fit. Anyone have anything further on this?

Ok I did some further searching and it turns out that the front rim from the older model 600rr's will NOT fit the 07-08 models. Apparently there's some difference in the size of the hubs/axel. The REAR rims on the two models ARE interchangeable.

Ok, I've been looking on ebay and craigslist for months, still haven't found a front rim for my 08 600rr track bike. Now I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out what needs to be changed to fit a 03-06 front rim on my bike (since those year rims are much easier to find). Can I change the axel/hubs/spacers etc to make one of those rims work? I'm running out of options here, race season is coming up!

i've seen 03-06 600rr front rims going for under $200 so I'd like to spend under $200 if possible for just the front rim.

Exclamation F4 > F5 front wheel swap

You can get a F4 front wheel to work in an F5, without mods, but your forks will be stretched, even if you machine new spacers. You have a choice, ruin the brakes or ruin the forks as the spacing is incorrect. (the wheel is about 10mm too big)

I was riding for several years with wrong wheel because of previous owner... When you stretch the forks, the ride becomes rough and it's scary to take corners as the front tire is bouncy... When you install the smaller spacers, the forks work better, but the spacing for rotors/calipers goes wrong and you have brake drag.

You may be able to machine it and it may work, but it would have to be perfect as that's where the rotors connect.

I'm pretty sure I had to grind out the inside of the the forks, (for the axle to fit) so they may be no good also...

The bottom line is just buy the front wheel (you can go Chinese for as low as $250) or OEM for around $350. All the time and hassle is not worth it even if you are broke...
