Default 06` 600rr tech question

Getting to some mods and been talking to a lot of people. Heard a lot of opinions and looking for some more on what would be best. So far my baby's just got a front sprocket and yoshi slip.
I'm bout to throw a power commander and will be getting a custom map(dyno) done for it. Was going to get a K&N but I'm being told that a k&N will disturb the airflow in the box and almost move too much air. Also I'm more than likely going to put velocity stacks while I have it. I hate to have it mapped and 6 months from now have to re-map it cause I changed things up.

Do anyone have experience with aftermarket air filters and which is best? I've been told BMC makes a good one for the cbr design

hey, i just put a k and n air filter on my 05 600 rr and it sucked. it is a pain to get to the air filter and when i did, the filter didn't fit right. it is up to you but i wouldn't do it if i knew what i had to go threw.

hhhhhmmmmm.....I had no problem with my K&N. I don't consider getting to the air filter a pain. Its no different than any other bike in that you still have to remove fairings and the tank. I guess its all about comfort level in taking your bike apart.

i'm not sure when you're getting that dyno, but i would hold off until you've reached your final goal...
as far as K&N and other filters providing too much air...it's really debatable...so with that said...just get whatever filter you want to use and get your dyno with that on...but if you're doing v stacks...get it all done at the same time...but with this...if you forsee yourself doing full system later...then hold off the on stacks and custom tune until you get the f/s.

Guys that dyno here actualy have done extensive test and say ultimatly they would only use stock or BMC they have info on test to show but it is not on web. I am certain that you want to have everything done before mapping tho, any changes in air flow ( filters exhaust ect.) will mess up dyno calibration because it is mapping the amount of air flow to the amount of gas needed to get perfect fule burn, in other words no fule is left to burn, or there is as much fuel as possible to burn cleanly and completely after combustion. changing the amount of air flow increases amount of air to fuel so this causes you calibration to be off in one of the grids. So get all your mods before you dyno it.

Appreciate the info yall. On the filter I've also been told HRC(honda racing I assume) is a good brand. And yeah this is def something that as I'm doing my research on it is something thats gonna take a little more time then expected. Like yall said I'm not gonna pay 280 to have a custom map done and 6 months down the road have to recalibrate it. In regards to the full system I think this round of mods will be just fine for a while. Dont get me wrong I want it faster but also have enough sense to take it a step at a time. Plus this is gonna run me enough dinero for the meantime. Like I said appreciate the info.

I think a more important question to ask yourself when doing modifications for power is WHERE IN THE RPM RANGE do you want power?
