Does anyone know if there are common problems with the charging system on the 04 model? I have replaced the battery before and it does not seem to help. A friend of mine also has the same problem with her bike as well.

Is your system dead or does it keep draining the battery? I believe 03/04's have regulator rectifier issues. Look up the service manual in the general tech section of the site and it will point you in the right direction for the charging system.

 

Yep, on the 03/04's they have a know issues with the voltage regulator / regulator mount when used mostly at low RPM around town use - Its a heat issue that kills them. The fix is to replace it with the 05/06 voltage regulator& mount assembly.
