Problems with charging system??

Problems with charging system??
Anyone have to replace the stator on their '04 '05 CBR1000RR? My bikes not charging the battery. My battery load tested fine and my regulator/rectifyer is ok.
I'm just curious to see if anyone else had this problem as Honda did update the stator for those years, but don't have a recall for them. So much for Honda reliability.

RE: Problems with charging system??
Lots of people have needed a stator replacement for the 04' and '05. Some06' and '07 modelshave had trouble too. If youdon't have a bunch of aftermarket lighting or electrical mods on your bike you should be able to get itrepaired under the 6 yearwarranty extension. Just curious, how where you able to determine the battery and rectifier were OK?

RE: Problems with charging system??
I used the service manual and followed the testing procedures in the manual with my multimeter. When the bike was running at 5000rpm and high beam on (as per the manual), the measured voltage should be greater than the battery voltage and less than 15.5v. My battery was about 12.8v.and was being drained. I did the same test on my friends ZX-10 and his was at 14v @5000rpm with high beams on.
I asked the service mechanic at Mission Motorsports in Irvine, CA if there were any recalls, but they said no....

American Honda has determined that the
ACG/charging system (stator and flywheel) on
affected 2004-2005 CBR1000RR models may
overheat and cause a short circuit, resulting in
insufficient battery charging.
To ensure customer satisfaction, American
Honda is extending the warranty an additional
six years for the ACG only.
If a customer complains that the battery of
their 2004-2005 CBR1000RR is not recharging
properly, proceed to the INSPECTION section
of this Service Bulletin.
All 2004-2005 CBR1000RR customers within
the affected VIN range will receive a letter
notifying them of the extended warranty. If
the ACG is malfunctioning, they should take
their motorcycle to a Honda motorcycle
dealer to have the ACG inspected and, if necessary,
replaced.
A copy of the customer letter is reproduced
on page four of this Service Bulletin.
Before you begin the repair procedure, check
to see if the unit has already been repaired.
• If there is a punch mark below the first letter
of the VIN, the unit has been repaired. If
the customer complains of a charging
problem, proceed with normal troubleshooting.
• If there is no punch mark below the first
letter of the VIN, the unit has not been
repaired. Proceed to the INSPECTION section
of this Service Bulletin.
NOTE: This is a warranty extension, NOT a
product update. It is your responsibility to
make sure the VIN is within the seven year
period of the unit’s purchase and delivery
date to the customer.

there is a sticky on 1000rr.net explaining the stator problem and hondas warranty covering it
might want to give that a read before you go to the dealer so you are armed with the correct info

I called Mission Motorsports and he's going to look into it. I already bought the stator a couple of days ago so I just want to see if I they could just give me the credit for it.

I wouldn't swear to this, but I think the rectifier/regulator can becauseof the toasted stator windings. It'd be a shame if you put a new stator in, only to have the rectifier/regulatorburn it out for you. If Mission Motorsports is still balking, try callingthenumberon the attached warrantynotice.

RE: Problems with charging system??
I'm an idiot for not checking on the forum before hand. I found my warranty notice in a pile of paper. I already replaced the regulator/recifyer and didn't make a difference. When I tested the battery alone it was 12.8v, but when I started the bike and switched on the high beam the battery started to drain quickly. I'm going to take it in this week, but I have to put on the factory turn signals back on.
Thanks for all the help everyone!!!
