Default 03 rear shock

Is there a way to adjust the rear shock to make it higher or lower?
What do the numbers 1 through 7 mean on the bottom of the shocks? Soft/High? If so is 1 soft or high?
Thanks

I checked the service manual, it doesn't say anything. I have a 2003 CBR 600RR btw.

No you cannot adjust the stock rear shock height.

The number are the spring-preload setting (for setting your sag), with 1 being the least amount and 7 the most. Changing this does make the spring softer or harder it just changes where the internal valving sits inside the shock.
