Default What's the 411 on maintaining this thing?

I don't know anything about motorcycles except how to ride them. I just purchased the CBR two months ago (and it had new oil and was ready to go then). However, I haven't changed the oil since, but only sprayed on chain grease every now and again. How often should I change the oil and clean the chain for this thing? Or, better yet, what other maintenance procedures should I perform?

Thought I should add that it has 24,000 miles on it, and is supercharged.

I'm also wondering where I can get a lift for this (a jack stand, if you will) so that I can spray my chain without needing another person to push the bike.

grazie!

Let me get this right-you have a supercharged CBR F4? Well on a stock bike at 24K I would have the valves adjusted, Carbs set, A manual CCT installed if it has not already has a new one, Coolant flushed, brakes flushed, new spark plugsand oil change and clutch adjustment. That's what I did at 28K and my bike runs like new. You should change the oil every 2-3K and lube the chaine about every 300-500 miles or so. Also make sure the chain is adjusted porperly-not to loose and not to tight. I run about 3/4 inch of free play with the bike sitting on the kick stand with no one on it.

I give my bike a quick once over before every ride to make sure the chain, tires and lights are good. I also make sure the oil is at the normal level. A little maintenance will make the bike go a long way.

That's what I'm saying. I have seen supercharged V-twins on big bikes, but never a sport bike. I would think a Turbo would be the only way to go on a CBR.

Bumble Bee: What is a manual CCT and what are carbs? If my bike is not exactly stock, what things should I do differently than I would do for a stock bike?

Toaliosis: I couldn't put a picture in because it said the file was too large.

Hmm don't know what to tell ya about the picture thing, I'm sure there is a post on here somewhere about how resize pics properly.

I'm guessingIF someone went to the trouble to put a supercharger on it, they probably changed out the Cam Chain Tensioner (CCT).

Carbs are your carburetors for your engine.
They are responsible for getting your gas into the engine.
Its what they used before fuel injection and in racing applications.
After awhile the settings need to be checked and re-tuned to make sure they are delivering the right amount of fuel to your engine.
