Want more torque.. need advice
Hi guys,
New to the site. Wonderful one I might add. Thought I'd drop a line with you gentlemen.. and few ladies out there.
Got a question for y'all. I would love to add more torque to my 2000 CBR600F4. How may I do that, what would be best?
I don't really care about losing a bit of top end.. I don't use it all so it won't break my heart.
Given that.. how much is it gonna break me and is it even worth it?

It'll be a lot easier, and cheaper, to just rearrange the torque you already have. Drop a tooth on the front sprocket and see how ya like it. If it still doesn't have enough giddyup go up 1 or 2 teeth on the rear. They make 520 conversion kits where you get the sprockets and chain for around $100 or so. It's best to change the chain when replacing sprockets for longest wear. The 520 chain will also help get ya moving faster because it's lighter than stock. Here's one on e-bay.

Ya -- I posted some links for it somewhere on here. That's the cheapest you're gonna get the error out of your speedo though. A GPS will cost at least $100 plus they're always a second behind. You can do like 30 miles on an interstate and compare your odometer with the milemarkers and figure the error rate -- then just remember where a couple speeds are. The good news is with the lower gearing your speedo will always read a lot higher than you're actually going.

I went 15/45 gearing with a 520 chain conversion. I'm pretty amazed, the powerband is much better for real world riding. It's a bit buzzier now, forcing you to short shift and use the upper gears for the highway, but overall I was thrilled at the difference.
