Scotts Steering Dampner
I have experienced tank slapping and sever headshake going about 110-115 on the rural highway going to Reno and Cache Creek... I seriously thought I was a goner, long story short are these really worth the money? I know there are other steering supressors out there but Scotts 'claims' its the best on the market. Opinions?
first of all you need to slow down, that's way too fast for street riding one error and your hamburger.2nd the f4i does not need a steering damper, there must be something not adjusted right on your bike.maybe tires. but really if you have had more that one tank slapper and your still riding that way maybe you need to rethink what your doing
I don't have a F4i, I have the F4 Carbed... it has only happened once, which was more than enough for me, I am glad I survived without injury (besides the huge hole in my inner calf muscle). I won't attempt those speeds on the road anymore!
your bike is probably not set up very good.maybe check the oil in the front forks to see if they have the correct amount of oil in both sides, also sheck to see if the compression and rebound are set correct and the same on both sides.if your tires have too much ware on them it may cause it.if the rear is too high the front will be more **** to do this.if you hit a bump the front end camd off the ground and landed cross ways this will cause it.like one guy said its like the wheel on a shopping cart going back and forth, it's only the wheel that is out of adjustment that do it.but really honda has always made a more friendly bike, your bike should not do this.don't put a steering damper on to mask your problem.the first thing i would do is buy a new front tire.
yea mang...at that speed headshakes can come but if you're suspension and alignment is adjusted fairly well, shouldn't be a problem.
fork oil need to be changed yearly or every 10K miles....
