Default Sanding the crank covers?

After I droped my bike last night on my gravel drive way it put some straches on the covers. It revealed a nice silver. I was thinking, maby I buy some 100 or 80 sand paper and sand the whole thing down. Then polish it up with some fine grit paper. Anyone think this would work?

it works...i polished my frame, swingarm, and forks....

use a 200 than 400 than 1000 grit. after that use a polish. if you can still see scratches use 1200, and the metal polish again...

good luck.

Sure it will. That dirty gold isn't the easiest color to match and it's a powdercoat anyway. I would start with no coarser than 280 to take the powdercoat off, then go up to 400, 600 or 800, 1200, and then some aluminum polish( I like Mother's brand).

Another easier option if you don't mind the satin aluminum color is some DupliColor "Cast Coat Aluminum"Name: stockvssilvercover.jpg
