Default Removing California Emissions?

Hello! I have purchased a '99 CBR 600 and I'm looking to remove the California emissions stuff. Specifically, the "charcoal can" is leaking gas, so I want to get rid of it. Anyone know of any sites or manuals that go through how to do this? Also, are there any specific CA emissions items I should be sure to remove in order to get more power, or is it more trouble than it's worth?
Thanks!

If I recall the California edition bikes have different cams as well, so it very well may be more trouble than its worth.

Hey Bigassbunny,

I was looking for the same thing years ago for a F2 and LOTS of experimenting later, I have some answers.

I put them on my webpage here:
www.magneticdrainplug.com/Tech_Links/CBR_Desmog_1.html

Once you know what the difference is, it is really not that hard.

Hope this helps!

Tim

None of CA emissions stuff lowers power, so removing won’t gain you any. Main benefit is weight-savings. I measured something around 0,15-0,20 sec/lap @ Laguna Seca after I removed: PAIR valves, EVAP canister, purge valve and all related hoses. Saved about 5-lbs. Got way better improvements in lap times of 0,25-0,30 sec/lap going with lithium battery which removed 9-lbs off bike.
