Default Rear Brake rotor HOT

I recently replaced the rear tire and brake pads on my bike. I thought at first I put it back together wrong but I checked it twice and it is correct. But after only 10 mins of riding my rear rotor gets extremely hot. What is wrong? I am think that the caliper might be bad and not releasing but I am new to all of this so I am hoping to get some more experienced opinions.

Did the piston come all the way out? Did ya clean it really good before pushing the piston back in? I doubt the caliper is trashed -- maybe a seal. Most likely you just need to clean all the brake dust off and push the piston in farther. Then pump it back up and it will seat its self.

I took your words of advice and cleaned everything up real good and it seems to be fine. Thanks again.

An alternative solution to this problem is carrying a bottle of poland spring water and when they get hot just stopping and soaking them to cool them off!! That should eliminate the hot problem?

well I would start by doing what these guys say and cleaning it.. make sure your wheel spacers are not reverced.. I dout that though.. then change your rear brake fluid..and that should probebly do the trick..
And then there is always the obvious... maybe just maybe .. take your foot off the rear brake petal

good luck
