Default Putting throttle cable on linkage

I had to recently put new throttle cables on my bike and taking the cables out was very easy, now I’m trying to put them back in the throttle linkage I’ve been trying for an hour with the cable almost going in over and over again. Any tips on how to make this easier please.

Out of all the things pertaining to carb work, this is my least favorite.
A couple things, though they aren't much help. Make sure you are certain you have the top cable going to the top linkage, and the same with the bottom.
Also, I will open the throttle all the way and place an object in the carb throttle so that it holds the butterfly valve open.
Other than that, it's holding your tongue the right way and traying not to sear too much.

What object do you recommend I can’t really find anything that I would trust putting in there and not losing and breaking it 😭

Anything that will fit and hold the butterfly valve open. The handle end if a small screw driver, a piece of wood shaved down to fit, erc,
