Problem with new handgrips
As my DIY grips where getting a bit tatty I ordered some gel type HARRIS grips. No problem getting the old grips off and putting the new ones on, good old hair spray. BUT … when I came to screw the bar end weights back on, the clutch side fitted flush as before no problem, not so with the throttle side I was left with 5mm to much sticking out when the weight was screwed in tight. I couldn’t work it out as the inside bar weight hadn’t moved and everything was the same as when I’d taken the old grip off.
Slept on it overnight and this morning decided to measure the length of the new grips……..clutch side 12cm throttle side 11.5cm so that’s where the 5mm difference was. What I ended up doing was sawing 5mm off of the plastic part that goes into the end of the bar, now it fits great and they look good.
Tip: To ensure you don’t have the same problem measure the new grips first. Bazza
