Post CCT install question/concern
Hello everyone, hoping I can get some opinions on my 2000 CBR F4. I had the nasty bb's in a can noise so I decided to change the CCT, I went with the OEM Honda one. While I had everything off I changed the plugs (checked the gaps before install), cleaned the airbox/filter, and changed the oil. IDK what oil the previous owner had in it, but the bike ran amazing other than the cct sound. I went with Rotella T5 15w-40 oil. All hoses are connected correctly to the air box. Fast forward to everything being re-assembled and I dont know if its just me, but the bike feels slower and more sluggish and even sounds different, the cct noise is gone (thank god) but it sounds more muffled and kinda sputters at higher rpms. Nothing too bad, barely noticable. I cant tell if its the clutch kinda slipping or what. My question is could it be the oil I am using or is my bike just a tad slower since the cct is now snug and not loose? Maybe its just some OCD kicking, but i want my bike to run at its best, and it was running near perfect before the "tune up".
Also just noticed some fuel has dripped out of the vent hose from the gas tank while sitting over night. It never did this before. Could that be from having the tank vertical and off? I figured if anything it would be the overflow dripping but its the vent hose.
You might check for a slightly kinked fuel or vent hose to the fuel tank.
Also, you said that you cleaned the air filter. Is that a reusable one like a K&N or BMC? If so, is there too much oil on the filter?

Yeah I was going to check for kinks, I didnt see any before I bolted the tank back down. I have a K&N filter, and yeah it was kinda black in spots, I just used warm water and a light brush and basically just got the bugs etc out of the crevices. I just rode for about a half hour and it seems much better today and no gas dripping, so maybe it worked out whatever was causing it. The only thing i notice now is a slight hesitation when crank on the throttle, like if im sitting stopped and give it a crank it hesitates then rev's up, if i ease on it everything is fine.

Glad everything worked out! I had the same type noise, replaced the CCTl with the OEM part and still had the noise :/ So I ended up putting her in the shop... I was having same issue as you after I replaced, sluggish at high rpms, and my noise actually never left. Either way, glad you back up and running!
What did it end up being NewSense? Did you go with a manual cct after that? I still have the gas dripping from time to time, not sure if it was because i had the tank off and sitting at crazy angle and got gas in the vent line, idk. Its running ok now so im just gonna enjoy it and keep an eye on things...
I don't know what it is yet. I took it to the shop cause I didn't want to keep putting work into it and not fix the issue. I still have the oem cctl that I bought brand new. I dealt with sputtering and everything well... I wasn't sure if it was cause of cam chain or something with the air box. I didn't have the issue with gas leaking. Did you make sure you put back both washers for the hose that connects to your fuel tank, I forget the name of it... But I DID have a gas issue till I noticed that mistake. And make sure they are sealing washers
