Default Please stop the ticking

I have posted about this a while ago. My 99 Cbr f4. Has a light tap when it starts up. It takes it about a min after I close the choke. Then it will tap till it warms up and then it stops. Rpm doesn't effect it getting louder or anything. Once warm it goes away completely. So far I have replace the cct. I actually did this twice with 2 brand new cct to make sure. I had the valves checked by two different shops. Said they where still within aliable(sp) spec. I have used syn Honda oil didn't help. Now using mobile 1 10w-40 bike oil. Had coolant flushed and replaced. Had all seals and exhaust bolts are torqued to spec. So basically I was told by my mechanic and Honda dealer there is nothing wrong but I can still here the tap. Any one else have this problem?

Background info. Bike is 99 f4. I am the 2nd owner. First owner was older and had it since new. I got it with 5k on it. And I put a gentle 2k on it. So its only at 6,900. And garage kept since day one.

Can any one else with a all stock bike like mine just make a decent quality video of there f4 starting up and idling. And have the camera close to the bike to here engine noise?

Let's get it moved to the proper section first (F4). ;-)

ETA: Ok, now that - that's done...

IF your valves are in spec, than you shouldn't be hearing valve-tick.

There's really nothing wrong w/a little CCT ticking. Mine does it. Doesn't bother me, much. ;-)

But, you're saying that "once warm it goes away completely"... So, what's the problem? Sounds normal.

It seems that cbrs tend to be a little noisy, especially cold. I wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe you can post a video of what its doing so we can tell you its normal

Glad to help. Can't always get to everything but do what I can.

To ans your question... My F4 is always a little ticky when I first start it. It usually is fine tho when warm. Now, if you're getting some really loud noise/ticking, that's a dif thing.

Let us know...

May be an exhaust gasket leak at the header pipe, even though the bolts are tight.
