Out of the ashes rises...a reborn F4?
Sorry to hear about the scratch on your Leo Vince. The worst the factory can say is *no*, so give 'em a call & ask if they'll replace it. If they won't, you can get some Flitz polish & see if it will work out the scratch.
Thread revive...been away from the forum for a few months, but I want to make sure I use the rest of the winter to get this project done so that I can be riding the F4 in the spring.
In my last post I mentioned that my new Leo Vince slip-on was scratched, and now I'm wondering if my plan may have been flawed to begin with. My understanding is that slip-ons are usually designed to work best with the stock headers, and the headers I have are aftermarket. It's my suspicion that a slip-on with a freer flowing header might actually affect performance negatively. Unfortunately, the Micron carbon fiber muffler is not in great shape.
So, I'm looking for recommendations...here are the options as I see them:
-purchase some stock headers and use the Leo Vince or a different slip-on
-keep the aftermarket headers and try to make them work with a slip-on
-try to have the Micron muffler "refurbished", and use the whole system
I'm not sure if fixing the muffler is even possible...it would need to be cut (there's a small crack at the very end) or patched and refinished. I think that would be easy enough if it was stainless steel, but not sure about CF. Of course, it wouldn't make much sense if it was more expensive than the other options. I emailed Micron to see what they'd say, but I have a feeling they are going to tell me I'm outta luck. The system sounds great, and the carbueration seemed like it was spot on when I got the bike, so I really would like to use it if I can get it looking decent.

Looks like that place is called Annitori Distributing...I already got a reply from someone there asking for more specifics, so maybe I'll get lucky and they will find some NOS in a dusty pile somewhere.
as long as the bike is jetted correctly the aftermarket heads + slip on would make it run better/stronger than with stock headers and a slip on. never heard that it would decrease performance.
It can decrease performance because its not jetted correctly but if I were you I would keep the headers, and if you want you can either fix the micron /leo vinci or get a new one. If you go a new can route than all you need to do is make sure its a good one and you will be fine. I have a leo vinci full system, I will be swapping the can with a jardine with a db insert in when tracks have noise requirements and the difference between the two is minimal as long as you rejet the bike.
Something to note the early F4s were jetted rich when compared to the rest.

Well its a two fold answer. The short /expensive answer is no it will not work for both. The long /cheap answer is yes it will work for both because it is an aftermarket shock shock penske built one shock and many styles of attachment points. I feel comfortable saying that most other aftermarket suspension companies do the same. So for me when I send my forks in to traxxion to have the cartridge kit installed I am sending them my shock as well to be serviced, have the attachment points changed, a few other things installed and to double check that it is sprung correctly. So I would say even though its expensive at first, if you get a shock that has a remote reservoir it can travel with you from bike to bike in most cases.
To caveat off of that, When buying parts off ebay (i.e. the dogbone of a 06cbr600rr) it is often cheaper to buy the shock with items because for some reason its cheaper.
these are the same model The differences are the way they mount and how the reservoir is mounted and you can have a shop swap parts as needed.

A couple days and a few exchanged emails later, I have a new carbon fiber sleeve ($129.95) and canister band and gasket ($59.95) being sent from Annitori Distributing. They also included a missing spring between the mid-pipe and headers and a mounting bolt. Here's a before pic of the muffler...it doesn't really show how rough it looks in person. I think it will be cool to restore the full Micron system to its former glory. Plus, I know that it sounds great, and already seems to be jetted properly.
Hmmmm...now I'm thinking...I cheaped out with the VHT rattle can paint on the headers. That's unlike me. I'm ashamed...I may have to have them properly prepped and ceramic coated.
