No spark
Hi all,
been going through different threads for a few days looking at other answers regarding no spark on my cbr and followed a lot of the steps such as checking all the basics, fuses, side stand switch, clutch switch, pulse generator resistance (think that’s the name the 2 wires by the clutch case) all that seems to check out, have 12v to one wire of each coil and between 3-4v on the second wire (not sure if both should be 12v?)
also read about the pink wire coming from the ignition switch being an issue with the diode however I only have 3 wires coming from the ignition and none are pink, all 3 have 12v on them,
im starting to pull my hair out and won’t lie electrical dignoisis isn’t my strongest skill but if someone could help me out I’d be extremely greatful, or if anyone is based in Cornwall and thinks they could help even better, or if someone could talk me through where else to check or how to test the ignition control module via FaceTime or Skype would happily PayPal someone for their time as reluctant to take it into a garage as it’s in soo many prices at the moment and would have to pay a transport company to move it,
thanks Kieron

I bought it as a none runner all I was told was it fell over in the wind and hasn’t started since was assured it just needed a carb clean

diode failure on these bikes are common, and when it happens most people replace the ignition switch with an aftermarket one. some of these use a different color wire for the 9v source. pull your tail fairing off and look for the pink wire on your CDI box connector. check for 9v there to ground. if its 12, the diode has failed and needs to be replaced again.

the F4 has an ignition diode. its a frequent topic discussed in this forum. if you search it in this section, you will get a number of search results that pop up.

Yep, gotcha 👌
Was thinking F3 v F4.
Found this
"anyone who ever has a no spark issue on a Honda motorcycle, please read !!!!!!!
There is a diode in the switch base of the ignition switch. IF that diode pops for any reason you will have a no spark/no fuel pump issue. The value of the diode is 3.9v 0.5watt part number NTE5007A"
