New Jack
Hi people,
I'm looking to purchase my first CBR, and ran across and very good looking 2001 f4, which had an f4i motor swap. The guy claims the bike rides perfectly and that the motor has 11k miles on it while the frame has around 35k. I'm not too sure about that, does that sound shady to anyone at all? Also does any one know of existing issues with the motor swaps or is the transition pretty seemless? The guy lives pretty far from me and I wanted to know if its even worth taken the 2 hour drive to go see it?
Thank you.

Sinatra,
I've got over 30K on my 2000 F4. *No*, I don't consider it "a lot" for the frame. Then again, I know exactly how the bike has been ridden & how its been taken care of.
So, you have to ask yourself some questions about this one you're considering... Why was the motor changed? How was it ridden?
Can you actually verify by any means that the frame actually has 35K miles, other than the guy just claiming it? ...& what kind of miles were those?
There just seem to be too many possible issues w/ this situation that would cause me to recommend you look elsewhere...especially for your "first" CBR. Find a good *stock* bike w/ as few miles possible...one that will provide you w/a good first experience.
Good luck.
