Default My winter Project F4

Well i baught a F4 a few days ago for £150 as i explained in another thread after he had crashed it and as i have allready got my F3 on the road i thaught i might aswell do something a bit special with this one so i plan on going the full way with this bike, I know people are gunna start asking why im doing it to a 600 and theres 2 answers ...... 1 i payed £150 for it i aint gunna get a blade for that and 2 .... insurance is compulsary here and i had a accident 2 years ago which wasnt my fault but there was no witnesses so the insurance companys had to settle at a 50 - 50 claim so i only have 1 years no claims at the moment and the only 1000 i can insure that im intrested in is a TL 1000 R

Any way the idea is to get it into a quite nice but custom condition for a bike show in April which usually has some nice bikes but nothing "AMAZING" as such So its a good compitition to start in lol and i want to just get it into shape for that as the prize is something like £300 voucher for a bike shop usually.

Anyway this is how i got her.

Unfortunatly i didnt get any pics before i had plastic welded this fairing up those cracks did go all the way threw to the other side of the fairings.

Other damage includes smashed stator cover, damaged front wheel, bust left fork seal, bent gear shifter and peg on same side, is missing a linkpipe but im going to fab up a underseat system, and a flat rear tire

And the work i have done so far

After plastic welding all the cracks up

Fibreglassed the wholes up were the grabhandles used to go, removed the pegs and undertray ready for a new one and removed crash damage plus primerd ready for spraying.

Fibreglassed and bodyfillerd the small hole that was in the side fairing and added a airscoop to the bottom of the side fairing which 1. was created for a meaner look and 2 im gunna try and reasearch a was that maybe i can add a cooling system in the scoop so that the air the goes threw will pass threw the cooling system and cool the engine, maybe somethign like the water cooling systems geeks put in there computers nowerdays lol

Still need to borrow a dremel off someone to cut the fairing on the inside of the air scoop i have created.

So looooooots more work to do yet but have many months to get it done and have some big plans

More updates soon.

Started to make a undertray today.

Made a mold from the old tail light

And of course it was a pain in the *** to get in there i had to keep sading small amounts off testing it then shaving a bit more of and testing it.

Gunne have to get some more fibre glass before i can do the main part of the undertray.

The tail lights i want to use

The air scoops from the front fairing which is smashed up from the previous owners smash, im gunna put a F4I front end on it so i could sacrafice the air vents.

Looks Like you need to install the 600rr swinger so you can connect your exhaust to the under tail exhaust.

Yer, the idea is to measure up the f4 swingarm in all the important parts then im gunna go up the local bike breakers and measure up a few of there swingarm see if they got anything that will fit in and hold a bigger rear wheel, if not then it will be the RR mod but a extended swingarm.

I've seen people have been using 1000RR shocks for the 600 RR swingarm mod and i've seen a 1000RR air suspension kit which i've been thinking about for next summer, i would prefer to just go for some lowering links but with the amount of speedbumps we have around here it would be impossible to get around as the bikes allready scrape on some of them at stock height.

Hopefully will be getting the F4I front end in 2 weeks as well.

STARTED TO ADD A LIL COLOUR TODAY.
