Default My f4, first mods/winter collecting.

Hey guys for any of you who saw my intro thread, I had/have a 95 f3 which I converted to f4i front and gauges, which was recently stolen and then found but in pretty rough shape. I didn't receive anything from insurance since it wasnt covered for theft at the time, so I ended up just going out and finding another bike. My friend called me one day to let me know about a 99 f4 with 30k kms on it for sale by a customer at his dealer for an awesome deal, so I went over checked it out and worked out a deal with the guy and she was mine.

At this point my f3 was still gone so this was something to fill the void for next season. A mostly stock f4, other than flushmounts at the front, d&d exhaust, puig cf rear hugger and chain guard. but a decent enough platform.

Now it was nice to have another bike again so i was slightly happier, but I wasn't too happy about going back to analog speedo (i just like the digital) and the headlight is ok but not my fave so I was debating doing another f4i conversion. But the thing I knew for a fact had to go was looking at that tail and seeing that giant licence plate holder and signals, it was just an eyesore. so literally as soon as I got home from buying the bike I went and ordered a few things for it.

Integrated taillight
pimpbikes undertail
and found a Targa solo seat cowl locally used

the tires were worn down flat in the middles I dont think the guy ever even took a corner judging by these tires, and the chain could have been adjusted for tension but I figured why not change some gearing.

so pilot road 2s
and a supersprox sprocket set -1 +3 with a RK racing chain were ordered.

Next I decided I didn't want the fast blinking signal lights but didn't want to splice the giant resistors that came with the integrated taillight into my wiring so I ordered one of the LED flasher relays from custom led

Then to my surprise i got a phone call from the police saying my f3 had been found, picked it up and found it was in pretty rough shape but atleast its back. Some parts can come off of it, such as my f4i gauges and main stay, then the f4 front can go on it, and I'll sell it looking like an f4. I have all the parts needed to repair it but that thread will be in the f3 section...

So the main thing stopping me from doing the f4i conversion on the f4 was that i really didnt want to go buy another upper and headlight, plus gauges and bracket, but since my f3 came back most of the parts were there it was like a sign.

So I placed the order for a new f4i upper since they mangled mine.
a new headlight assembly (hasn't arrived yet)
another set of f4/f4i mirrrors
the upper piece of the stay bracket since they cracked mine

Now I justed needed to find the grills and ramair covers (my ram air covers for the f4i i have are modded to fit the f3 tank so no good in this case)

Literally a day after the new f4i upper arrived I got an email from another local guy i emailed about an f4i fairing kit, he had the movistar kit and scuffed the right side, he ordered a full new kit to replace the one piece then he sold me the entire brand new kit with the exception of the right side fairing for 180 bucks, it ended up coming with the ramair covers and grills, plus another tank guard pad and a tinted windscreen. good deal and now I have 4 sets of f4/f4i side fairings since I've found spares for cheap before too...

Before going f4i route i ordered a tinted screen for the f4, then when i ordered the f4i upper i ordered a tinted screen for that, then the new kit came with one too which adds to my clear one i have on the f3 already and the chrome one thats sitting in my room already, I've also got the clear f4 and a tinted f3 needless to say ive got windscreens for all my moods...

Then after seeing a thread on here about the ebay shorty levers I figured why not give them a try, so I order the black with red adjusters in the shorty sizes

Other than all of that I'm waiting on the headlight, f4i upper stay bracket, f4/f4i mirrors to come.

I ordered a set of red wheel stripes to toss on. I also got a new set of ngk plugs an a k&n air filter to go in but I didn't snap any pics of those.

And today I ended up putting in an offer on an hid with projector kit for the f4i headlights, so I guess we'll wait and see what happens there...

either way I think that pretty much covers about everything for the bike other than doing normal maint. Maybe a jet kit or an ape cct for it, but other than that I think I'm set to have it looking and running pretty decent in the springtime.

lemme know what you guys think or if you have any other suggestions let me know.

Oh yes and frame sliders... I always install frame sliders so that's on my list of things to get still

Wow! Talk about a great project!

Where did you get the shorty levers from? Those look like the "the2wheels" ones but not sure.. Hw long did they take to get to you? ALS, are you going to sell the hugger or keep it?

thanks guys.

the levers are the ebay ones...

Brake Clutch Lever For Honda CBR 600 RR 2003 04 05 06 | eBay

they took about 2 weeks roughly if i remember correctly i ordered them on the 6th and i had them earlier this week.

The tire hugger will be staying on the bike or atleast that's the plan unless it looks horrible with the undertail, bit I'd rather keep it. and as for spare parts, i tend to keep stuff i like having spares since I play with my bike alot and it's bound to go down sooner or later, so I like having parts to replace

sorry, the hugger won't ever be for sale, even if I take it off I tend to not sell anything. I have a storage unit for one of my cars anyways so I just keep everything in there with it.

the windscreen I won't know until the spring time, whether im doing f4 or f4i front on the f3, if i go f4 then I'll be putting the tinted screen on that.

Thanks for the link, and these levers will work on my F4 right? If so, I will order a pair in the next a few days.

I will be interested in the tinted F4 windscreen too. Just let me know if you want to sell it or I will just order one off ebay.

the mirrors in the pic are f4 mirrors for the f3 since the f4 front will be swapping over to my f3.

who am I kidding, I couldn't wait

I need to modify the reflectors a little bit i can fit them in there but it would be a little too close so im going to trim the backs a bit to bring them closer to the housing but still retain the aiming ability.

couple pics to give the idea of what it looks like though...
