Miles Per Tank Of Gas

Miles Per Tank Of Gas
Hey guys i posted something earlier about my fuel light but i just remembered one other thing that i was wondering if you guys could help me out with. I was wondering how many miles you guys normally get out of a tank, obviously it depends on the riding style but im talking like just crusing around and trying to get decent gas millage how far can you go. My problem is that i can only go anywhere from 100-115 before it runs out of gas, it does it worse out on the highway at 70mph rather than the 55mph roads. The worst part is when i go to fill the tank up it only takes like 3.7 gallons to fill it up, doesn't the F4 tank have like a 4.8 gallon capacity??
Thanks for any info.

your tank isnt beat in for stunting is it? I can getaround 200 out of my f4 if I run it dry. Get around 180 or so out of the f4i. Also I believe the f4 is 4.9 and the f4i is 4.8 which compensates for the internal fuel pump. Have you verified its actually out of gas or does it just die? You could have water or something else in your fuel tank.

my fuel tank is not beat in and im just assuming that is is running out of gas, it happenes the most when im out on the highway, the motor will bog down and when i twist the throttle it just makes the low growning sound that im familiar with when things run out of gas. there is one thing tho, when this all happens, if i downshift and run it at like 8-10k rpms it seems to get better until i slow down. and then it allows me to get to a gas station or home... Its just Weird.

i dont know where it could have come from, it did it to me all last summer and it has always been stored inside and had premium run through it. plus i did have the take off later in the season. i filled the tank up and then took it off and drained it into a 5 gallon gas can to see if it was REALLY 4.9 gallons and sure enough it almost filled the can up.
Let me know if im way off but i was wondering since it has a slip-on yoshi on it and it hasnt been jetted, could it be running lean and when the fuel gets low, could it be just not getting enough fuel?

well, im merley speculating. Someone with more expierence will hopefully pop their head in here. Theshop I have talked to about a slip on said that "most" bike dont need any changes after a slip on. That would be a lotta runnin lean in your case. The reason i thought water in your tank, is when you get low you are getting to the water/gas mixture when your bike starts to run like a**.
