Default making frame sliders?

whats up everyone whos reading this. im brand new to the forum and today i just picked up my first bike 99 600 f4. I was thinking about buying frame sliders for obvious reasons but then i got to thinking, i work at a welding and machine shop so why not make my own. My question is does anyone know the dimensions of the sliders and what size threads are on the end of them? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

OD = 1.7"
Length = 3" outside frame (.6 - .75 inserted into frame bolt hole area - smaller OD of course)
Bolt Lengths = 3.8" - 4.6" (threads are obviously whatever the frame bolt threads are)

Note: 1.75" hole saw drill bit is perfect for fairing hole thru which sliders will protrude.

Thanks bro for the pics and measurement. You saved me allot of time of trial and error. But i do have 2 ? for you. Is the overall length 3" or is it a little bit longer because the smaller od part that goes into the frame? And if it is a little bit longer what is that extra length? Im thinking about putting aluminum inserts that will screw into the end of the sliders so they can get replaced if something were to ever happen. ill put some pics up when im done prob going to take about a week hopefully less seeing i need to free up some extra time at work. And yet again thanks alot.

You are going to make them out of metal? For the $25 just buy a set of trex delrin ones and be done with it. Save your fabrication skills for something cooler....

You're welcome.

3" is the length outside of the frame. One slider measured .6" inside frame area...the other .75". Therefore, one side = 3.6", the other = 3.75". As mentioned, the portion 'inside' the frame has a smaller OD. One was 1.2", the other .95". Hope these measurements help.

Like Turbulenz asked, are you making them out of delrin, nylon, or what? I'm not a fan of metal sliders...they can dig into the pavement & actually cause a bike to flip & not *slide* <--- which is the point.

I can understand your wanting to save money if you have access to the proper materials. The ones pictured weren't cheap.

Good luck. Look forward to seeing the outcome.
