Question Looking to acquire 99 F4 for 2300$

Bike is very clean "Has pretty new Pirelli Diablo tires, D&D carbon fiber exhaust, carbon lookalike mirrors and blinkers. Frame sliders. Inspection done this month, registration good and clear title in my name"

now is he charging alittle too much?? I know he can charge whatever he wants but this is also my 2nd bike and all i have is 2,100$ i know i can talk him down but what is realistic to you guys??

Welcome to the forum.

^ That one little pic w/ no further info that what you have here, isn't really enough for us to make an informed decision/recommendation. To that, KBB for a 1999 F4 in *excellent* condition w/ avg mileage = $2,085. So, that's really where you need to start your decision process.

W/ the obvious fairing damage in that one pic, I'd def be curious as to the condition & treatment of the rest of the bike.

Is there a service/maintenance history?

I will ask him for one.. it has 30,000 miles and i was going to haggle him for about 1,850 to start because of the high mileage and the hole also i will tell him the KBB value as well.. im looking at it tomorrow and i do want to buy it.. if it runs good i have the money and need a bike.. this will be my second motorcycle after a year and a half on my old ninja 500..

Just remember, it's easier to find a decent bike than it is to find $2100 cash.
Don't fall in love until AFTER you buy a bike.

I would also suggest, any time you buy used, you should keep a reserve of (at least)
15% to 20% of your purchase price, to fix the things that WILL be wrong with the bike,
after you buy it. Otherwise, you're stuck broke, with a broken bike.

p.s. here's a good link to read before you go look at a used bike...

Used Motorcycle Evaluation Guide

Good luck, Ern

I bought a 2000 F4 with some minor frame damage for 1500. ODO read 17xxx, had no fairings, but came with 2 aftermarket exhausts and chain/sprocket kits, F4i headlight. Since I decided I wanted to do the F4i fairing conversion, I alotted some money for that. I probably should have gone lower on the bike since it had been damaged, but feel that I had enough to restore it the way I wanted.

It's too bad the frame isn't in perfect condition, but the title is clear.

Yeah same here title is clean unlike some cheap F4i's that ive found AND BRAND NEW TIRES! those should last me.. anyway im going to look at it tomorrow and if i like it ill start my haggle at 1,800 tell him its damaged and the KBB value and so i have alittle money to play with if things go wrong.. but i fell confident that this bike will last me and im perfectly happy with that..Loud as hell too!

I guess we'll find out. ;-)

IF the bike is in good mechanical condition & just has cosmetic damage, then you prob got a fair deal.

Do your maintenance! Change all fluids & inspect *everything*.

BTW, we expect many pics now. ;-)

aha thanks guys! yeah it sounded good oil looked good and i had my friend whos been riding for 40 years check it out for me.. he said everything is great mechanically. Just the fairing damage.. CJ your going to have to do a video about installing the F4i Gauge cluster cause thats my next upgrade lol..

but im happy i pick it up tomorrow just got the insurance for the month paid 35$ a month so not bad i guess ill give her a wash and take some pics for you guys! i kinda tip toe it but as long as my foot is on the right side and my left is on the peg i should be fine.. if i dont feel comfy ill lower it an inch all around which wont hurt performance for street use.
