My Brother owns a 99 CBR600F4 and I was trying to get an integrated tail light assembly for Christmas. Unfortunatly I didn't ask him directly what the year model and all that stuff was, my dad said it was a 98 so I bought the part for the 98. Will the 98 part work on his 99 model bike? If so, what wil have to be done to install the light assembly?

 

Tail is different if I am not mistaken. You need the one for a 99-00 if it is an F4. 98 was the F3, and I believe that the tail assembly is different.

 

I;m sure that there is a difference between F3 tail and F4 tail. Even within f3, there are 2 different tails: '95-96 and '97-98

 

Before I did the tail swap, i had an integrated tail light from Clear Alternitives. Here is the link from their web site.

Thanks, guys...I did get the assembly from clear alternatives and it's pretty nice...do you think there's anyway to "mod" it to make it fit, or should i sell it and just get the right one?

 

Well, see how similar they are. I know the older tail lights had a more "square" form to them. You could try, and see what happens. I suggest getting the correct one, but its all your choice. Good luck.
