Default How much would you pay?

I am a newbie, looking for a bike. Is this too chancy? Not a lot of miles, but has been sitting a long time. Didn't actually see it start.

2000 HONDA CBR600F4 looks clean.

3625 miles. This owner bought in 2001 with 3000 miles on it.

Needs Battery

Needs tires - dry rot.

Needs one mirror, broken off.

Cracked plastic under broken mirror mount. Epoxy?

Scratched fairing on one side. Went down once, only visible damage is scratching on one side of fairing.

Recently cleaned carb (self).

Had rust corrosion in gas tank from half-full storage - had tank "creamed"?? (black stuff)

Will start only after choking and much turning over - back-fired when I saw it.

Scraped pipes on bottom from speed bump...

Owner is no expert, but has tried a few things to get it going with not great success...

Safe buy at what price?

That bike is a gold mine. I'd offer $3000 but I'd probably pay around $3500. The F4 is a fantastic bike. Less than 4K miles, there's a lot of life in that thing.

About the starting thing... yeah, I'd disassemble that bitch and remove all the fluids from every line. That ****'s probably so backed up from not moving through the system that it's just sludge. It's basically a brand new bike.

Buy it.

If you can get it for about $2,500 it would be a good deal. It sounds like it just needs cleand out and some maintenance done. Like was asked-does it have a clear title?

My bike is a 2000 and has over 29K on it and runs great.

LOL $3500, I paid $2500 for mine 2 years ago, and it had 12K miles and was flipped from a wheelie, runs perfect and $500 got everything fixed(bent rim, and plastics)....I wouldnt pay anymore then $2500, b/c your going to be putting money into to get it running, Hell I would offer him $2k, b/c hell it wont start! if it wont start might be the battery but might not be....why would anyone sell a bike/vehicle with a dead battery, still havent figured that one out

Geez, still think 2500 is too much. With all the labor and parts, i was thinking 1500-2000, tops...

I payed $3500 for mine. Mine was working perfectly only for a few stratches nothing was wrong with it. Also considering bike prices in Louisiana are expensive.

Just make a low reasonable offer and go from there, but don't give more then $2500.00 for it. You are going to have close to $1,000.00 in it or more depending what it needs and what the labor rate is out there. Tires alone are going to be about $400.00 by the time you get them on the bike. You might do better finding a running/ready top go bike.
